Answer the Call Now” to Go Green
Recycle Your Old Cell Phones
Every year, Americans buy more than 100 million cell phones, yet only about 10–20 percent are recycled.
Discarded phones represent about 65,000 tons of electronic garbage every year. Simply by recycling these phones, we could save enough energy to power more than 194,000 homes for an entire year.
By recycling only one million cell phones:
- Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced the equivalent of taking 1,000 cars off the road for an entire year.
- Four metric tons of gold are recovered—saving more than 3 million metric tons of rock from needing to be mined.
Cell phones are full of valuable resources such as gold, silver, copper, and plastic—all of which require energy to be extracted and manufactured. In fact, a cell phone is richer in gold than gold ore mined from the earth.
So we have a virtual gold mine sitting in landfills, boxes, basements, and junk drawers.
Answer the Call Now to go green, and recycle your old cell phones for a good cause. Also please ask your friends and neighbors for their recyclable cell phones.
We will be collecting until the end of May.
